We are pleased to announce an SMS base retreat with Jim Valby in Portland, OR. Jim Valby has an open and engaging style of explaining Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s Dzogchen teachings. Jim Valby is a student of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu since 1982. He has been leading SMS retreats since 1999 and has worked as a translator on Rinpoche’s Ka-Ter Project since 2003.
RETREAT
The retreat in Portland will focus on the SMS Base text the ‘Precious Vase’ and will emphasize Dzogchen transmission and practice. We will also study & apply the essence of Sutra and Tantra. The retreat will include both teaching and practice.
Jim Valby will also hold a public talk in Portland (location TBD) on September 3rd with the title: Three Paths of Liberation: Sutra, Tantra & Dzogchen.
WHO CAN ATTEND
All those who have transmission of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and those who are seriously interested.

If you register before 31st of August, get an early bird discount!

Costs include free admission to the public talk on September 3rd and of course plenty of tea, coffee, and cookies!

LOCATION
The retreat will be held in a comfortable space in the Alberta Arts District. The room has a nice wood floor with lots of light, windows, and a tranquil atmosphere. All necessary facilities are available. Please plan to bring your own sitting cushion and/or blanket to be comfortable.
The space is located in a walking neighborhood where there are many coffee shops, retail stores and restaurants.
